The Ethiopian World Federation, Incorporated International President attends Day 1 and Day 2 of the United Nations Academic Africa Conference

TEWFI International President Scheril Murray Powell Esq and The Ethiopia Ambassador to the United Nations, H.E. Ambassador Tsegab Kebebew Daka.
Fresh off of the United States holiday weekend, The Ethiopian World Federation, Incorporated International President, Scheril Murray Powell Esq, joins World Leaders and CSO’s at the United Nations Headquarters in NYC. She is a Cannabis, Agricultural, Dietary Supplement, Trade, and Regulatory Attorney. There were conversations about “What is the State of the African State?” and “We need to stop waiting for others to rescue us and rescue ourselves”.
She was able to caucus briefly with the Permanent Mission for Ethiopia and The Ethiopia Ambassador to the United Nations, H.E. Ambassador Tsegab Kebebew Daka. When it was her time to address the Assembly, she made it clear that The Ethiopian World Federation, Incorporated (TEWFI) Constitution and Bylaws requires our members to support commerce with Africa and Repatriation. She noted that some of the EWF Settlers to The Gambia and the Land Grant issued by His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I in Shashemene, Ethiopia, have been on the continent for several decades and some have welcomed Children and Grandchildren. It was made clear that most of the Repatriation experiences have been pleasant, however, guidance is being sought on how to work with governments to address individual land disputes and civil rights violations such as hair cuttings and incarcerations related to the Rastafari sacramental use of Cannabis. Repatriates want to have confidence that they will not lose investments made in the African Continent, or their freedom.

The EWF International President returned for Day 2, seeking opportunities to collaborate with African Leaders and CSO’s. The Day 2 conversation was more focused on Solutions and Ideas. We were encouraged to think about “Who are we and what we are fighting for” and “Succession planning”. The International President feels that “Who we are” changes based on what we need, but “what we are fighting for” stays pretty much the same except that the agenda and milestones change. What we are fighting for is a UNIFIED, SAFE, SUSTAINABLE AND PROSPEROUS AFRICA WITH COMMERCE ACROSS BORDERS AND THOUGHT LEADERS ACROSS BORDERS. We can achieve this goal through collaboration and cross organizational alignment. This goal is very much worth fighting for. One Federation! One Africa!
